On Monday, 1 October, 2018, H.E. Ambassador Ivo Sieber opened his residence to host the Sponsors of the Swiss Thai Chamber of Commerce`s 20th Anniversary. The STCC was represented by its President Bruno G. Odermatt, Vice President Luzi Matzig and Executive Director Thomas Gerber. It was a truly memorable event and H.E. Ambassador Ivo Sieber, with the great help of Pierre Hagman, Deputy head of mission, and his dedicated support staff, did a just marvelous job to feel everyone in attendance welcomed and appreciated. It was a remarkable event and shows the close partnership and support the STCC has been enjoying from the Swiss Embassy over many years.
he Swiss themed luncheon included, amongst others, “Flädlisuppe und Thurgauer Most Crème mit Schlagrahm”, properly translated with “Clear Broth with Omelet Strips and Apple Cider Cream with Chantilly”, which delighted not just our Swiss colleagues, but also Thai friends. The choice of menu was second to none and the ensuing table conversations where engaging and amicable. With the generous contributions of our esteemed Sponsors, the STCC is planning to launch a couple of Corporate Responsibility (CSR) projects. It will include scholarship for Thai students in the hospitality sector, vocational education scholarship for underprivileged students from rural areas, or donations to other social institutions in help of need. Once the Board of Directors decided on the allocation of funds for the SCS programs, we will let you know.

On Tuesday, September 18th, Switzerland Tourism in cooperation with the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangkok hosted the event under the title „#inLOVEwithSWITZERLAND” at Siam Paragon, showcasing a rolling 6 by 2.5 meter “SwitzerBall” sculpture, designed by Charles Morgan. The innovative SwitzerBall can take visitors on a virtual journey to most of the major tourist destinations in Switzerland in just 4 minutes. The event attracted more than 5,000 visitors during 6-day period from 18th to 23rd of September and highlighted many offerings of Switzerland as a prime destination to visit and travel. The CEO of Switzerland Tourism, Mr. Martin Nydegger, welcomed visitors and thanked many distinguished guests who joined the opening ceremony. The STCC was well presented by a number of Board Members who are engaged in the Tourism sector. It was a first-class public event, promoting Switzerland as a major tourist destination for Thai travelers and the STCC is proud of supporting Switzerland Tourism in its efforts to attract more Thai people to visit and explore Switzerland. In 2017, over 200,000 overnights, generated by Thai tourists to Switzerland, which represents an increase of 21% from 2016.
