STCC Luncheon on 5th June at Arnoma Hotel
Mrs. Raphaela Nicolet, currently a lawyer at Lawfirm Trocaldyo Co. Ltd. in Bangkok (STCC corporate Member) , was part of the ground crew of the Solar Impulse project some years ago, and she shared her experience during the flight around the world without fossil energy very enthusiastically with the members of the STCC and SSB, Beluthai Chamber and Sponsor Solvay, as well as guests.
On Thursday 30th May 2019 the Ambassador H.E. Ivo Sieber attended his last Board Meeting in his capacity as Honorary President of the STCC. The Board of Directors invited the Ambassador to a farewell dinner at the Brasserie 9 restaurant which was attended by all directors. During his 4 year tenure in Thailand, the STCC has enjoyed an excellent relationship and support from the Swiss Ambassador and his key people at the Swiss Embassy, namely Pierre Hagmann, Deputy Head of Mission, and Wilfried Schnider, Head of Chancery.
On 31th March 2019, our Honorary President and long-time resident of Thailand Paul Somm and his charming wife Milly celebrated Paul’s 90th birthday at the Centara Hotel in Hua Hin. Many of Paul’s close friends, associates and colleagues attended the wonderful event and it was a night to remember. Paul is the founding father of the Swiss Thai Chamber of Commerce and still actively engaged in many projects and business affairs in Pranburi and Bangkok.
On 28th March the Swiss Thai Chamber of Commerce invited its members to the Annual General Meeting at Arnoma hotel. Many members took time out of their busy schedules to attend the AGM and all items on the agenda were approved by the assembly. Since the new Board of Directors was elected in 2018 and its two year term ends in 2020, there were no elections. In 2018 the STCC was celebrating its 20th anniversary and it was one of the most active and successful year in the history of the Chamber. The President Bruno Odermatt paid a special tribute to the Gold, Silver and Support sponsors who contributed with their generous sponsorships to the remarkable success in 2018.
Donation to hospitality training center of Pimali Foundation
As part of its STCC 20th anniversary Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, the STCC leadership team led by Bruno G. Odermatt presented on 5th February a cheque of 50,000 THB to Alexandre des Arts, co-founder and General Manager of the Pimali Foundation. The Pimali Foundation is a hospitality training center for underprivileged young Thai and orphans, located in the region of Nongkhai.
Vocational Education Scholarship for Underprivileged Students
On Thursday, 31 January, the STCC represented by its president Bruno Odermatt and selected Board Members, met a delegation of the Swiss Student Alumni Association (SSAA), headed by Khun Koblarb Poshakrishna, president of this venerable institution. The Swiss Students Alumni Association under the Royal Patronage of HRH Princess Kalyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra was established in 1948 with an objective to organize charity activities for public interest to be beneficial to various organizations.
CSR PROJECT : Foundation for children (FFC)
Within the STCC 20 year anniversary celebration framework we have selected 4 projects where we contribute to a good case. The funds have been provided at 50% from the STCC and 50% from our Anniversary sponsors.
